Investigation Into Shaken Baby Still In Early Stages

A vigil for Hannah Rose Juceam, a 15-month-old child who was killed in May, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday on the west steps of the Capitol in Sacramento. The event, sponsored by the Hannah Rose Foundation, and planned in part by Assemblyman Tim Leslie and the Child Abuse Prevention Council, is intended to be a celebration of Hannah's life. Lights will be provided for. "The community has supported us so much already," said Hannah's father, Scott Juceam. "We need people there." The vigil will also highlight shaken baby syndrome and how families can prevent it. The Juceam family created the Hannah Rose Foundation to help do this. Television stations will be on the scene to film the event. Hannah died from injuries consistent with the syndrome, according to reports from the Roseville Police Department. The woman charged with Hannah's death, Veronica Martinez Salcedo, was Hannah's caretaker. Martinez Salcedo is being held on another charge of entering the country illegally.
